John Dent was Mayor of Worcester in 1826 and High Sheriff of the County in 1849. He also served as a Magistrate in Worcester City and for the counties of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. Other offices included the President of the Chamber of Commerce, the Vice President of the City and County Library, and the Master of the Clothiers Company (1818).
