The Guildhall is conveniently situated on the High Street and is a beautiful building to host your wedding and has several rooms licensed for your ceremony.
We are a unique Grade 1 listed building offering a range of packages to suit your wedding requirements. Built in the early 1720s the Guildhall boasts impressive historical décor and has hosted royalty on a number of occasions.
Please note you are required to have your own £5m Public Liability Insurance (PLI) cover. Alternatively, we can provide you with PLI cover for an additional cost of £40.*

Our packages
The Elizabeth Package
- The Elizabeth Package gives exclusive use of either the Assembly Room, Council Chamber or the Green Room for 4 hours between 9.30am and 6.00pm for the ceremony. We have rooms to suit all, the Green Room can hold up to 10 guests for a more intimate ceremony, the Council Chamber for larger parties of up to 40, and the Assembly Room, for a grand ceremony with a capacity of 180.
- The Assembly Room Weekday – £700
- The Assembly Room Saturday – £800

- The Green Room Weekday – £300

Charlotte Package
- The Charlotte Package is our Wedding Breakfast package. This includes all second-floor rooms including the Assembly Room, Randall Room, and Council Chamber, a fully equipped kitchen and plating area for your chosen caterers as well as stylish banqueting tables. Additionally, you’ll have access to a professional PA system with microphones, ample setup time, and three convenient parking spaces.
- Full day hire 9.00-18.00 Monday- Friday and 9.30-18.00 Saturday
The Victoria Package
- The Victoria Package is the Guildhall’s most luxurious offering for your ceremony and wedding breakfast. This package provides full access to the elegant second-floor rooms, including the Assembly Room, Randall Room, and Council Chamber. It encompasses everything you need for your special day, including a dedicated ceremony room, a private registrar meeting space, a fully equipped kitchen and plating area for your chosen caterers, as well as stylish banqueting tables and chairs, including regal king and queen chairs. Additionally, you’ll have access to a professional PA system with microphones, ample setup time, and three convenient parking spaces.

Catering
The Guildhall does not offer catering and is happy for you to arrange your own caterer for your dream day.
Any caterer just needs to meet our minimum requirements below:
- At least a four-star food hygiene rating with their own local authority
- Public Liability Insurance with a minimum cover of £10 million
- The caterer is prepared to sign a contract with the Council to cover the event they are working at

The Commandery
If you are looking for a unique location with a beautiful outdoor space located in the city centre you may want to consider our sister venue at The Commandery. The enclosed gardens behind the historic Commandery overlook the picturesque Georgian wing and can accommodate a marquee.
